VIVA ZAPATERO

A film, halfway between a fiction and a documentary by Italian satirist Sabina Guzzanti, in which she denounces the authoritarian drift of the medias system, particularly in Italy where almost all of the media are controlled by Silvio Berlusconi.

The title is a strong reference to the action of the Spanish socialist leader at the time, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero who managed, as promised after the victory in the elections, to reform Television by untying the public channel RTVE from the party power and to open the market to others. Currently, in Italy, the members of the RAI board of directors, or whoever decides what can be broadcasted or not, are chosen by the government which makes Italian television, strictly controlled by political power. In fact, all the various complaints denounced by Sabina Guzzanti with this film derive from this interference.
